about us

Who we are

The Winnipeg Indie Music Foundation's purpose is to promote Winnipeg’s most talented, up-and-coming indie musicians and fund their out-of-pocket expenses in the early-to-mid stages of their careers.

Our ultimate goal is to establish the Winnipeg indie music scene as the undisputed leader in Canada and one of the best indie music scenes in North America and the World.

how we started

The Winnipeg Indie Music Foundation was founded in 2024 on the belief that the Winnipeg music scene is one of the most productive, talented and historical scenes in North America and could rival the most well-known music scenes in the World with proper financial support.

This belief stems from its founder growing up on artists such as The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Guess Who, Blink-182 and The Weakerthans, and realizing that half those bands are from Winnipeg.  It was also founded on the fact, not belief, that Winnipeg’s music scene would be far beyond what it is today if its’ most promising young artists had the funding they need to commit to their craft full-time.
